where can I take the course?

Begin your TAP journey at the University of Miami with a 3-credit, one-semester course offered in both fall and spring semesters. Classes meet once a week. 

Who’s it for?

UM Seniors and graduate students from any major 

Class Code: TAL 590/TAL 690

Option 1: Tuesdays, 6:35 – 9:20 pm Professor N’Dyah McCoy

Option 2: Wednesdays, 11:15 – 2:00 with Dr. Chakeia Andrews

How do I join?

Complete our interest form and then enroll in TAL590/690 on Canelink. Spring enrollment opens November 6, 2023 and closes January 24, 2024. Limited spots available.

Begin your TAP journey at the University of Miami with a 3-credit, one-semester course offered in the spring semester. Classes meet once a week. 

Who’s it for?

Current UM students in their final year of their bachelor’s degree program. Non-education majors.

Florida International University

There are now two options to begin your TAP journey at FIU:

  1. Spring A in-person class
  2. Spring B online class

 

Who’s it for?

The Spring A, in-person class is for any FIU Senior already enrolled in an in-person program at FIU. The Spring B, online class is for all FIU seniors, including those in in-person and fully online programs. Both classes are open to students from any major with the exception of education majors. 

In-person Class Options

Option 1: Mondays, 10:00 a.m.–12:40 p.m.

Option 2: Wednesdays, 5:00 p.m. to 7:40 p.m.

Classes begin the week of January 8

Last Day to Enroll is January 16

Online Class Option

Classes begin the week of March 4

Last Day to Enroll is March 11

How do I join?

Complete our interest form and then enroll in EDG 3321 with Mara Zapata through MyFIU. The class is listed as “permission by department only.” If you are not prompted to request permission, you are in the wrong section. You will need to contact the department for the enrollment code. Limited spots are available.

Begin your TAP journey at the Florida International University with a 3-credit, one-semester course offered in the fall semester. Classes meet once a week. 

Who’s it for?

Current FIU students in their final year of their bachelor’s degree program. Non-education majors.

How do I join?

Complete our eligibility form and email Melanie Morales ([email protected]) indicating you would like to enroll in the TAP class. 

Begin your TAP journey at MDC with a one-semester course. Currently, MDC students will not receive college credits for the TAP course, but scholarships are available. Classes meet once a week.

Who’s it for?

MDC bachelor’s degree seeking students from any major in their final semester of schooling and professionals with bachelor’s degrees

Class Information

Tuesdays, 6:00 – 8:00 pm

All classes are hybrid. The in-person portion takes place at MDC’s Padrón Campus (627 SW 27th Ave., Miami, FL 33135).

Classes begin the week of March 12

Last Day to Enroll is March 11

 

How do I join?

Complete our interest form and meet with our Program Manager. If you meet all the requirements, you will be invited to interview with a TAP Director.

For career-changing professionals: If you qualify for TAP, begin with the interest form linked above. You will then apply to be admitted into MDC and MDC staff will manually enroll you in the TAP course. You will need to provide proof of your bachelor’s degree. Begin your TAP journey at MDC with a one-semester course. Classes meet once a week.

Who’s it for?

Current MDC students in their final year of their bachelor’s degree program. Non-education Majors.

Career changing professionals with a bachelor’s degree from any institution.

How do I join?

Complete our eligibility form. If you meet all the requirements, you will be invited to apply and interview with a Program Manager.

For career-changing professionals

If you are accepted into TAP, you need to apply to Miami Dade College (MDC). MDC staff will manually enroll you in the TAP course. You will need to provide proof of your bachelor’s degree.

cost of TAP

The TAP class at FIU and UM is a 3-credit elective that typically qualifies for students' financial aid. TAP does not cover the cost for students at FIU and UM, with a few exceptions.

The TAP class at MDC is a continuing education course and is not eligible for financial aid. Therefore, TAP will cover the course cost, subject to available funds.

Upfront costs covered by TAP through reimbursements

General Knowledge Test (GKT) - $130 each attempt

Drug testing - $40
Fingerprinting - $99

Costs NOT covered by TAP
