4 steps to a teaching career

Teacher Accelerator Program’s path to teaching for non-education majors

1
Take 1-Semester Course
A college-level course prepares noneducation majors to teach in K-12 classrooms. Students will develop instructional skills and sensitivities vital for the classroom, get hands-on experience and receive certification support.
2
Paid Summer Internship
Get paid experience as a TAP participant in a summer teaching internship with Achieve Miami, Teach For America Miami-Dade. This hands-on experience and training will prepare you for certification exams.
3
Certified + Teaching Job
Once you’re certified, you’ll receive a contract to teach at Miami-Dade County Public Schools. TAP helps support certification fees and costs.
4
Mentorship + Support
TAP participants will be supported in their first year of teaching, gain access to ongoing professional development with community partners and network with peers in Greater Miami
